Time to catch up!

As you can see it has been a very long time since I last wrote anything on here. So I thought I should fill you in on what has happened in the last 4 months! As most of you know we had our baby boy on May 27th! He is a very healthy and happy baby! He weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz. and was 19.75 inches long! With having a c-section we were in the hospital all weekend and got to go home on Monday. Life with two kids is absolutely AMAZING! Sure, we have our good days and bad days but there is no greater love than the one a mom has for her children. When we brought our littlest guy home it was rough adjusting to the wake up call every 2-3 hours in the middle of the night. I was lucky and had my mom and mother-in-law here for the first two weeks to help wrangle Colin which was great! After we settled in and got used to the next few weeks with a newborn everything kind of became a whirlwind which happens when you are sleep deprived :) Around 8 weeks we finally got Emerson to "sleep through the night" which is about a 5-6 hour stretch and to a sleep deprived person those 5-6 hours are the best hours of sleep ever! Since then our littlest man has made it to sleeping 11-12 hours at night which is great! Having him on a schedule makes for one happy family! I love watching him grow and now interact with people...especially Colin! They are so cute together. Emerson smiles and laughs when he sees a familiar face. Our next goal is to get him to roll from his tummy to his back...the only problem is he likes to be on his tummy and doesn't have any interest in rolling over! Well I guess that is a pretty quick summary of the past 4 months. My next project is planning Colin's 3rd Birthday Party! Where has the time gone?

Eek...Full Term!

Okay...as you can clearly see...blogging is not my strong suit! Especially since it has been almost 2 months since I posted anything! What has been happening in the past two months?! Well, I couldn't even tell you that! It has been a crazy whirlwind with trying to wrap up the semester and get baby boy's nursery all set up! Between that and baby showers, bridal showers, and bachelorette parties I haven't had time to think! It is okay though since all of it (minus the school part) has been a blast! So instead of going into detail and trying to remember specifics about the last two months let's just go over the past week :) Last week was the last full week of classes and this week I have two finals before I am done with classes for awhile! Couldn't have been better timing! Next week I will hopefully have a nice relaxing week to prepare for baby boy's arrival on Friday! Yes, that's right! My scheduled C-section date is already here! May 27th is the scheduled arrival date for our second little man! I am excited, ready and nervous all at the same time! I am so excited for him to be here, ready to start getting my body back and nervous of what life will be like with a second child! With Will working the evenings have been awesome bonding time for Colin and I and a part of me is not ready to give that up! I love the one on one time I get with him and I know it will be a big adjustment on Colin and I to settle into a new routine with the little one around! I will just need to work on setting time aside for Colin and I to have uninterrupted "our time!" Like I said, I am very excited to finally meet our new addition and see who he is going to look like ;) With everything going on I managed to be bothered with allergies which led to me having no voice which stinks! I'm hoping my voice will be close to normal when baby boy gets here so I don't sound like a sick frog! Colin has also managed to get sick so I am trying to take care of him without catching it myself with it being so close to my "due date." I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!
This Thursday marks 37 weeks which is officially full term! That means that if little man can be patient and hang in there for a little while longer I will be 38 weeks when I deliver! I'm hoping he cooperates. I go in on Thursday for a check-up with my doctor and we will see how that goes and if their is any new news! Other than that it is a waiting game and I am fully okay with waiting ;) Hopefully here in the next few days I'll be posting maternity photos we got taken! We had so much fun as a family and can't wait for everybody to see them! I am thinking that after next week I'll have to turn this blog into a family blog instead of just talking about being pregnant! It will be more of a "Life with a toddler and newborn" blog!! So Excited!

Two Trimesters Down, One to Go!

This Thursday I reach the 30 weeks mark which isn't the beginning of the third trimester (that was about 2 weeks ago) but close enough. I cannot believe that in about 2 months our little man will make his way into this world! I've started feeling a little anxious since we have not started getting his room ready! I'm not sure where all the time went but man, it flew by fast! Hopefully this weekend we can get some things reorganized so we can make room for baby boy and start to make his room look like his room! I ordered his bedding and diaper bag...and I'm SO EXCITED about that! I just can't wait to get things pulled together. My original due date was June 9 but I will be having a C-section scheduled for May 27! Right after I'm done with finals I'll be having our second baby!

I'm so excited to see what this little boy will look like but at the same time I'm getting nervous about handling two children! Boy, O Boy will that be a change! I think Colin is going to make a great older brother and since he is so helpful by nature I think he'll love it! That is about all the exciting news lately! Hopefully the next few weeks will be productive in getting things together. I don't want to wait until I'm about to pop to get things done! :)

Is Spring time here yet?!

The past few weeks have been exciting to say the least around here. I'm hoping that the following weeks will bring some better luck and weather for the Hecht household! Last week I managed to slip on ice and land on my knee...which hurt and resulted in a bruise but was better than falling on my belly. Then, I managed to slip down some stairs while it was raining and landed right on my tush! I now have a huge bruise on my rear end thanks to those stairs. I was, of course, a little freaked out when it happened and called my doc. She had me come in for a routine monitor for about 4 hours. They hooked me up to a baby monitor to monitor little dude's heartbeat and to make sure I wasn't having any contractions. I was so relieved when everything turned out to be just fine! I think it is a sign that I need to stay in bed whenever there is bad weather! I am so ready for some sunshine and warmer weather to head this way.

This Thursday will be 27 weeks for baby boy #2! I cannot believe how fast 6 months has flown by! Today I had a check up and everything went well! Baby's heartbeat is around the 150's which is excellent! After my check up today I'll start going to the doctor every two weeks which just seems crazy that we are getting close to the end of this pregnancy. I guess with a toddler to keep you busy time just gets away from you. Today I also had to do the glucose test which isn't the worst thing in the world but it is definitely not my favorite. When I had to do that test when I was pregnant with Colin they let me choose which flavor I wanted. This time around the lab tech just handed me a huge cup of red stuff and said drink in 5 minutes. It tasted like Hawaiian Punch with about 10 times more sugar! I prefer the lemon-lime flavor I had last time which just tasted like flat Sprite. I have to wait an hour then go back to either get a blood or urine test. I can't remember! Other than that today's check-up went very well and Dr. Durland and I talked about my options between a VBAC and another C-Section. I still have some thinking to do on that one but Dr. Durland and I are on the same page which is awesome!
In other news yesterday was the first day I looked in the mirror and really felt pregnant. I know I've had a belly for awhile now but it is now getting in the way and limiting me. My trips to the bathroom are more frequent and I'm now to the point that in order to get a good night sleep I need lots and lots of pillows to support my belly and keep me on my side. I think between the bathroom trips and restless nights this is how Mom's get prepared for 2 hour sleep schedules with a new born. But I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world! I cannot wait to see this little guy's face and hold him! Only 13 more weeks to go :)

Caution: Baby under construction

Well...it has been about a month since I last updated this blog and I thought it was about time to do so. The whole second trimester feels like a breeze and we are just coasting through it. It was right before our last appointment that I began to feel any sort of movement. They weren't big at all and felt more like muscle spasms than baby movement. About a week after that appointment, so around 20 weeks, I really began to notice our little boy move more and more. The reason for me not being able to feel a whole lot of baby movement around 19 weeks was due to my placenta being in the front by my belly instead of towards the back. Since then movements have become bigger and even more noticeable. Will has even been able to feel them which he loves since it makes him a part of the whole pregnancy thing. Everytime Colin is around when Will feels my belly then Colin moves Will's hand and wants to feel for himself even though he doesn't leave his hand on long enough to feel anything. He is just a curious, big brother! :) I'm pretty sure that hearing the first heartbeat and feeling those first movements are the best thing about being pregnant until that little bundle of joy graces us with his presence! Other than that not a whole lot has been happening. We are just going through our normal routine of Will going to work, me going to class, and Colin going to daycare. I'm not as tired as I was during the first trimester but, man, do I get worn out easily! I definitely enjoy my nap time when I can get one in! ;) When I'm not napping or in class you can usually find me eating some sort of salty, sour or spicy food like Mexican food. Same thing happened with Colin and I guess our baby boy #2 enjoys it as well. I can't complain except when I get heartburn but that isn't enough to keep me away from Mexican food! Anyway, that is all we have for now about baby #2. We have an appointment in about a week and we will update you with more info soon!

A Mom, a Dad, and TWO BOYS!

A good friend of mine decided to start a blog to track her pregnancy and inform her family and friends of all the news and changes she experienced throughout her pregnancy. I thought it was a brilliant idea and I decided to do the same thing. I just don't feel right about tracking my pregnancy through Facebook and some of our family doesn't have Facebook so they can get updates through here. As most of you know we found out in September that we were going to be having another baby. We decided to wait until after the 3 month mark to tell family and friends which was one of the hardest secrets we've had to keep! The first trimester seemed to be a piece of cake. I didn't experience any morning sickness (Thank God!) or anything else too weird or painful. The only symptom I seemed to have was exhaustion. I was tired all the stinkin' time and didn't want to get out of bed or off the couch which is hard when you already have a little one running around with endless energy! The first trimester seemed to drag on forever also since we didn't share the news with anybody! Now that the second trimester is here I'm excited to start feeling the baby move and to finally be out of the "Is she fat or pregnant?" stage. We went to the doctor today, January 14th, 2011 (19 weeks) to have our first sonogram and we found out we are having a boy! We're very excited that Colin will have a little play buddy and we think he is going to be an awesome big brother! Also as of today I've felt the baby move a little bit but right now they just feel like little muscle spasms in my lower abdomen...Will is very excited to be able to feel the baby move as well within the next few weeks! This second trimester seems to be like what most say it is "the coasting stage." I still feel tired sometimes but not as bad as the first trimester. That is pretty much all their is to add to the first post of our blog! Don't worry I'm sure there is plenty more to come and hopefully some pictures too!
